After another somewhat rocky night we woke up to calm seas and a clear sky.

On the second day of the cruise we had signed up to visit the bridge if possible. No guarantee, it would be up to the captain whether or not he allowed visitors. Last night we were fortunate enough to receive an invitation for 10:30 AM along with about 10 other passengers.

Sea days are anything but boring. Besides being able to go on deck and watch for wildlife (birds, whales, dolphins) there are any number of seminars and activities. Todays offer: Citizen science projects on Big Seaweed Search and eBird, lectures on Sea of Sound, Endurance 2022, All About Bird Feathers, Clouds, and a Recap of South Georgia. Activities include NASA GLOBE Cloud Observation, Critique Session from the Photo Adventure, Clay Modelling, Water color Painting, and Knitting. Most lectures and briefings are streamed to the cabin and also translated into German.

Coupled with satellite photos, ground observation of clouds helps NASA distinguish clouds from ground ice or snow
The Problem
